King Kenny, a contestant on the current series of The Celebrity Traitors, has a past link to another popular reality programme through his brother. Kenny, whose real name is Kenny Oghenovo Ojuederie, is one of 21 recognisable figures who entered the Scottish castle for the game of betrayal, hosted by Claudia Winkleman.
King Kenny's real name and rise to fame
Kenny adopted the stage name King Kenny after launching his social media and YouTube presence in 2013. He is regarded as among the pioneering British influencers. He retained the alias when he began his boxing career and when he joined the Beta Squad, a British YouTube collective, in 2019. The group shared a mansion for a period, creating and uploading content together. Other prominent members included Chunkz and Niko Omilana, who appeared in series 1 of The Celebrity Traitors.
The Big Brother connection
Kenny has multiple siblings and half-siblings, including boxing trainer Daley Perales, who prepared Kenny for his boxing pursuits. Daley appeared as a housemate on Big Brother in 2013, when the programme aired on Channel 5. He was among half a dozen contestants to enter on the second evening of the launch programmes.
Daley was removed approximately midway through the series owing to his conduct towards another housemate. It was reported at the time that some 'play fighting went too far'. Daley subsequently disclosed that he was "battling personal demons" while in the Big Brother house and received therapy after his departure. He now shares content on social media under the handle @thedaleyeffect, covering training, the sport, and mental health and wellbeing topics.
Latest episode twist
In the most recent episode, Kenny faced a monumental decision following the banishment of recruited Traitor Professor Hannah Fry. The remaining Traitors, James Acaster and Maya Jama, decided to recruit, and Kenny was extended the invitation to change allegiances. He appeared visibly shocked to discover the genuine identity of his fellow Traitors.
The Celebrity Traitors airs Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
