Celebrity Traitors viewers were left stunned as one star made a crucial blunder which could spell the end of their journey on the programme. Thursday's (October 8) episode opened with the roundtable, where the majority of contestants identified Richard E. Grant as a Traitor.
The roundtable followed Richard's dramatic confession that he was indeed a Traitor, moments after being selected alongside Maya Jama. The duo had brought James Acaster into their fold, but Richard's mistake proved costly, with his own fellow Traitors turning against him at the roundtable.
Richard E Grant's historic banishment
Richard was booted from the programme in scenes described as "never seen before", yet it was the aftermath that left viewers reeling. The celebrities discovered there would be a murder that evening, with Jerry Hall and Hannah Fry identified as the two at risk. When the Traitors opted to recruit Hannah - and she agreed - no murder took place.
This development placed Jerry and Hannah firmly under scrutiny at breakfast, with their fellow contestants wondering whether one had been enlisted, reports the Express. But Jerry, who remains a Faithful, appeared visibly shaken by Richard's departure as she blurted out across the table: "What about Richard?" Silence descended upon the room, as Jerry tried to clarify that she was merely taken aback by his Traitor status.
Jerry Hall's breakfast outburst
YouTuber and boxer King Kenny swiftly accused Jerry of "trying to change the subject", while Maya contended that she had never witnessed the American model appear so animated. Viewers were swift to point out the blunder, with many suggesting that her actions have inadvertently shifted suspicion from Hannah onto herself.
One viewer quipped: "OBSESSED with Jerry accidentally swooping in & saving Hannah." Another remarked: "Jerry just made herself look very very strange there." A third chimed in: "Screaming that Jerry Hall being Jerry Hall is creating more suspicion than Hannah Fry." A fourth observed: "Jerry's dumb breakfast outburst really did save Hannah because she was fumbling."
Another echoed: "Jerry saying 'what about richard being a traitorrrr! ! wasn't that crazy!' is reminding me so much of kate going 'what if someone's been recruitedddd!'." Someone else added: "LMAO why did Jerry say that." Another agreed: "Oh Jerry just instantly made herself suspicious there." This leaves Jerry at risk of being the next contestant eliminated from the programme, following Richard's departure.
Myha'la also banished
The actor made history by becoming the first Traitor to be banished at the first roundtable in the history of the series. He said: "I have managed to checkmate myself, which, as far as I'm aware, has never been done."
Shortly afterwards Industry actress Myha'la was also banished after the consensus was that she had suspiciously supported Richard, even after he admitted he was a Traitor. The Celebrity Traitors is on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
