The BBC has released a first-look trailer for the second season of The Celebrity Traitors, showing Claudia Winkleman in a church with the new celebrity cast. Fans have reacted with excitement to the dramatic clip.
New cast revealed
The upcoming series follows Alan Carr's win last year. Confirmed participants include Amol Rajan, Bella Ramsey, James Acaster, James Blunt, Jerry Hall, and Joanne McNally, alongside Joe Lycett, Julie Hesmondhalgh, King Kenny, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Maya Jama, Michael Sheen, Miranda Hart, Myha'la, Professor Hannah Fry, Richard E. Grant, Rob Beckett, Romesh Ranganathan, Ross Kemp, Sebastian Croft, and Sharon Rooney.
Trailer sparks fan reactions
In the trailer, Claudia stands in a church before the celebrities, asking for "a moment of silence for the celebrities gathered today." She adds "Thoughts and prayers" before teasing: "Who doesn't love a dramatic exit?"
Fans have shared their reactions online. One wrote: "Claudia saying 'thoughts and prayers' like she isn't personally about to ruin 20 celebrities' lives for our entertainment." Another said: "This cast has all the ingredients to create absolute chaos and I am ready for it." Claudia reflects on the series
When the show first aired, Claudia called it "an absolute honour" to have celebrity fans who wanted to play. She said: "I could barely breathe when I saw them all in the Highlands. I'm such a fan of every single one of them. The whole team were just in awe, it was hard not to scream 'you're here!' When I talked to Stephen Fry I almost welled up, I told him 'this was my dream'. We're incredibly lucky to have the cast that we have. Each one of them is tremendous."
She added that her biggest challenge was staying "strict", saying: "All I wanted to do was chat and be friendly but my role is aloof and grumpy. I found it hard not to just sit down with them and have a cup of tea."
The Celebrity Traitors returns to BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
