BBC viewers believe they have spotted a subtle clue hinting at who might win The Celebrity Traitors season 2. Fans on TikTok have predicted that actress Sharon Rooney could make it far in the competition, or even win the whole show.
The new series kicked off last week, with host Claudia Winkleman welcoming 21 famous faces into the castle. They are competing for a £100,000 prize pot for a charity of their choice. As always, Claudia has split the group into Traitors and Faithfuls, with veteran actor Richard E Grant and Love Island host Maya Jama named as this year's Traitor duo. They later recruited James Acaster as the third villain, but his promotion led to Faithful Amol Rajan's murder.
Screen time theory
Their theories came after the very first episode, where the 37-year-old appeared to have more screen time than viewers might have expected. She is shown sharing her first thoughts about the competition as the stars drive to the castle, and she remains the focus when the contestants enter the castle.
Posting a video on TikTok, author Michelle Elman shared her thoughts, saying: "You can tell via the airtime who we're being told to root for, who's going to make it to the end."
She went on to add: "Some screen time is obvious, Richard and Maya are the Traitors [plus] James and Amol are part of the cliffhanger. But apart from the funny moments, what else is being included? With 20 people in the castle, who's being focused on. and that's where Sharon Rooney really stood out."
Fan reactions
The TikToker explained that Sharon has come across very relatable and likeable so far, and seemed to have plenty of time in the spotlight during the opening episode. While it isn't definitive proof that she will become a key gameplayer, it could be a plausible hint.
Comments under the original post also seemed to notice the focus on Sharon in the series premiere. "First ep I said to my friend they're showing Sharon so much - that's sus," one person said.
Another fan added: "Yeah exactly this! Although it's interesting they aren't showing Michael [Sheen] and Miranda [Hart] too much cause sometimes that means they are in it for a long time so they don't have to tell us all the info on them so quickly."
But others aren't completely convinced by the prediction. "She wasn't even in ep 2. But you can tell that she will be a later game player as she'll be getting more air time later on," said a BBC viewer. While a fourth fan suggested that the edit has been favouring two other contestants: "I think it might be Bella [Ramsey] or James Acaster based on the edit so far."
The first two episodes of The Celebrity Traitors season two are streaming on BBC iPlayer.
