Celebrity Hunted viewers were left fuming after a major gaffe on Monday's episode, when a drone ran out of battery just as it was about to reveal the location of two contestants to the hunters.
The Channel 4 show, which sees celebrities go on the run while being hunted by experts, returned for a new series earlier this month in aid of Stand Up To Cancer. This year's participants include Strictly stars Amy Dowden and Carlos Gu, EastEnders' Brian Conley and his daughter Lucy, and TV siblings Scarlette and Stuart Douglas.
Narrow escape for JJ and Sophie
During Monday's episode, presenters and disability advocates JJ Chalmers and Sophie Morgan made a narrow escape from the HMS Victory. As they left, a drone flew overhead and was about to show the hunters their whereabouts, but it ran out of battery, frustrating both the hunters and viewers at home.
One viewer on X said: "The drone always goes down at the wrong time for the hunters." Another added: "The battery went dead on drone — it ain't entertainment now. Come onnnnnnnn."
Viewers react to the gaffe
A third chimed in: "Oh so they will escape just as the drone's battery runs out." Echoing their thoughts, another declared: "Couldn't make it up could you." A fifth wrote: "It's infuriating yet I can't help but watch."
The gaffe comes after last week's episode sparked backlash when the celebrities flew into their starting point in helicopters, with one viewer suggesting the flight plans would have been submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority weeks in advance.
One posted on X: "Has there ever been a more set up show. As if the flight plans for these 3 helicopters weren't submitted to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) weeks ago and are all flying at the legal mandated speed, height and distance between them in London."
Another viewer commented: "Obsessed with how fake this is now," while a third questioned: "Hang on... heading east when the lone heli stops the pair but that looks suspiciously like Westminster Bridge under them even though they've just flown over the city..."
