Emmerdale star Bradley Riches has shared his experience of working with Patsy Kensit since her return to the soap as Sadie King, revealing that the actress is "the softest, warmest person ever" away from the cameras.
Return of Sadie King
Sadie King first appeared in 2004 as the former wife of Jimmy King, played by Nick Miles, and remained in the village until 2006. Twenty years later, the character made a dramatic comeback just days after Jimmy's death, telling his grieving wife Nicola King, played by Nicola Wheeler, that she had been secretly involved with Jimmy for the past three years.
Her shocking claims about his alleged double life are set to continue in the coming weeks. Sadie may also face a surprising new enemy in Lewis Barton, played by Bradley since 2025.
On-screen tension, off-screen warmth
Speaking to the Daily Express at the Inside Soap Awards, Bradley revealed that Sadie could be the first character Lewis genuinely dislikes. "There's scenes with him and Sadie King coming up and it might be the first person Lewis doesn't really like because she speaks her mind and Lewis speaks his mind," he said. "To have that little stand-off is going to be fun."
Despite the on-screen tension, Bradley said he "adores" his new co-star and revealed that Patsy even apologises to him during takes after filming their more heated scenes together.
He said: "I looked at scenes and I was like, oh god, her character's a bit of a diva. But in real life, she is the softest, warmest person ever. She is such a kind soul."
"And she's so funny because during one of our first scenes, she's a bit snappy at me. And every time we stopped filming, she was like, 'I'm so sorry. I absolutely love you, Bradley.' She is a gem and I absolutely adore her so much."
Christmas episodes ahead
Looking ahead to the end of the year, Bradley said he is particularly excited for the Christmas episodes, describing his "dysfunctional family" scenes as a "beautiful thing".
He shared: "The thing that I'm excited for is Christmas. I didn't do a Christmas episode last year, but this year, I'm in Christmas and it's going to be a very dysfunctional Christmas family. But I think that's a beautiful thing. Me, Kev (Chris Coghill), Nicola, Ross (Mike Parr), it's a recipe for weirdness. But that's what we're here for. We love it."
