Big Brother's Michael Downs Slams 'Fake' Holly & Colin Romance After Eviction
Big Brother's Michael Downs Slams 'Fake' Show Romance

The first evictee from the 2025 season of Big Brother Australia, Michael Downs, has not held back in his assessment of the show's central romance, labelling it completely inauthentic. The 47-year-old single dad was booted from the reality series during Sunday's elimination episode and wasted no time in sharing his candid thoughts.

Explosive Radio Interview

Appearing on the Matty and Gina show on Star 104.3 FM this Monday, Michael took aim at several of his former housemates, describing them as annoying, immature, and whingers. However, he saved his most scathing critique for Holly Young and her burgeoning relationship with the much younger housemate, Colin Ridley.

When asked by host Matt Basely if he believed Holly was 'fake', and whether that extended to her romance with Colin, Michael's reply was unequivocal. 'Mate 100 per cent, everybody knows that,' he stated, adding for emphasis, 'I said that ain't lasting until halfway down the eviction runway... that's not a thing!'

Housemates Under Fire

During the same interview, Michael played an association game where he described his fellow contestants with a single word. He called Connor 'annoying', Colin 'immature', and Jane a 'whinger'. In a lighter moment, he described the show's host, Mel Tracina, as 'cute'.

His comments on the show's romance echo the suspicions of many viewers online. Critics have accused 31-year-old model Holly of 'playing for the cameras', suggesting she is using her 21-year-old love interest as a tactic to remain in the house.

This theory gained traction after a viral clip showed Holly's demeanour changing noticeably the moment she made eye contact with a camera. She then promptly became affectionate with Colin, pulling him in for a cuddle.

Fallout and Fan Reaction

Michael's eviction came after a public vote that also saw Holly and Trump-supporting grandmother Jane face elimination. Upon his exit, Michael, who had previously angered viewers with his 'sexist' views, blamed his departure on the show's demographic. 'I'm an older guy, and it's younger girls voting. They're not voting for me,' he claimed.

Fan reaction to his eviction on social media platform X was largely celebratory. One viewer wrote, 'I'm happy Michael got evicted. Australia made the right call this week,' while another sarcastically posted, 'See ya Michael!' Others were more direct, with one calling him a 'loser' and another stating, 'Michael has provided nothing but a few dodgy views.'
