Beverley Callard Breaks Silence on David Haye Feud: 'It's Not Over Yet'
Coronation Street icon Beverley Callard has publicly addressed her ongoing feud with former professional boxer David Haye, stemming from their time on I'm A Celebrity... South Africa. In an exclusive interview, the 69-year-old actress revealed that the conflict is far from resolved, stating emphatically, "It's not over, let me say that."
The Savannah Scrub Controversy
The feud ignited during the first episode of the ITV reality show, which aired in April 2026, when David Haye, 45, pushed for Beverley to be sent to Savannah Scrub. This was the more basic of the two camps, a move that left viewers fuming and Beverley initially resentful. "When David sent me to Savannah Scrub he ended up doing me a favour but I really minded at first because we didn't know each other and he judged me," Beverley explained in an interview for WhichBingo.
She elaborated on her feelings at the time, saying, "He didn't give a thought to anything apart from winning but the four of us in Savannah Scrub had great camaraderie which I enjoyed." Despite the initial setback, Beverley formed a close bond with fellow campmates Gemma Collins, Seann Walsh, and Adam Thomas, turning the situation to her advantage.
Allegations of Ageism and Sexism
Beverley did not hold back in her criticism of Haye's behaviour. She took particular issue with his comment that she needed to prove herself, calling it "smug" and expressing deep resentment. "I don't have to prove myself to him, that just was so smug and I don't care what he thinks of me," she stated.
The actress went further, accusing Haye of discriminatory attitudes. "I do not want to impress him and I think it was ageist, I thought it was sexist and at that time I thought he had no consideration for anybody else's feelings whatsoever," Beverley asserted. She described him as a "meanie" who was solely focused on winning, adding, "he didn't seem to have any endearing qualities to me whatsoever."
Reflections and Regrets
I'm A Celebrity... South Africa was filmed in September 2025, and upon watching the series back, Beverley feels she was too lenient with Haye when the camps eventually reunited. "I actually thought I was too easy on him. I did say a lot more than that, it was edited out, but I think I was too easy on him when we met again," she revealed.
This admission is particularly poignant given Beverley's initial admiration for Haye. "I was a fan of his. My dad used to box for the army, my son has boxed and there were so many questions I wanted to ask him. I was thrown completely," she confessed, highlighting the personal disappointment behind the feud.
Ongoing Tensions
Seven months after the filming, Beverley's comments suggest the rift remains unresolved. Her firm declaration that the feud is not over indicates lingering tensions, with no public reconciliation in sight. A representative for David Haye has been approached for comment, but as of now, his side of the story remains untold.
The show continues to air on ITV1 and ITVX, Monday to Friday at 9pm, keeping viewers hooked on the drama that unfolded in the South African wilderness.
