BBC Confirms Death in Paradise Replacement Murder 24/7

Death in Paradise will not return next week, and BBC One has confirmed that true crime series Murder 24/7 will take over its primetime slot. The beloved cosy crime drama has been airing classic repeats while fans await the annual Christmas special.

Last Repeat Airs Tonight

Tonight, Tuesday, July 14, BBC One airs a season 11 episode featuring Ralf Little as DI Neville Parker leading the Honore Police. This will be the final repeat for at least a week, as no further episodes are scheduled.

Murder 24/7 Season 3 Takes Over

Murder 24/7 returns for its third season on Tuesday, July 21, at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. The eight-episode series offers a fly-on-the-wall perspective, following murder investigations from the 999 call to conviction. According to the BBC, the show captures “every second counts” in the pursuit of justice, with cases unfolding in real time.

The first episode focuses on a distressing early morning 999 call in Droitwich Spa, Worcestershire. Police respond to a man reporting he found his wife with a knife in her stomach; despite resuscitation attempts, she is declared dead at the scene. Her husband is arrested on suspicion of murder, but the episode description notes that “the overall picture is more suggestive of suicide rather than homicide.”

Double Episodes Scheduled

Fans won't wait long for the second episode: Murder 24/7 returns the following night, Wednesday, July 22, at 9pm. The remaining six episodes are expected to air on Tuesday and Wednesday nights over the next few weeks.

Murder 24/7 season three premieres Tuesday, July 21, at 9pm on BBC One.
