Ashley Dommett Explains Absence from MAFS UK Reunion

Ashley Dommett, the 35-year-old operations director from Bridgend who appeared on Married at First Sight UK, has explained why he did not attend the show's reunion episode, which aired on Sunday, March 1. The groom was paired with midwife Grace Law, 31, from Norwich, and their relationship was marked by frequent arguments and hundreds of Ofcom complaints.

In a video posted on Instagram on Tuesday, March 4, Dommett said: "I've had a lot of messages just asking why I didn't go to the reunion and I thought I'd clear a few things up." He revealed that after the show ended, he and Law had a civil conversation and exchanged messages checking on each other's wellbeing. However, he claimed that Law later returned to film a solo commitment ceremony without informing him, and he felt she portrayed him negatively.

Dommett said: "She went back on the show and did a commitment ceremony on her own without telling me or communicating it, and just tried to paint me out to be this absolute monster yet again. So shock horror, right? So then I had to go back and almost defend myself... and just really sh*tty, to be honest." He added that he saw no benefit in attending the reunion, as his story had ended and he did not want to put himself back into a "horrible situation with bad people."

Dommett also shared screenshots of messages between him and Law from April 2025, in which they discussed their feelings post-show. In one exchange, Law said she was "ok-ish" and didn't know how to feel, while Dommett replied that it was "pretty sh*t really." He concluded his video by apologising to fans who were disappointed by his absence, but emphasised that he was prioritising his own wellbeing.
