MAFS UK Star Ashley Dommett Breaks Silence on Reunion Absence

Ashley Dommett, a fan-favourite from the 2025 season of MAFS UK, has publicly addressed his noticeable absence from the show's latest reunion episode. The operations director, 35, took to Instagram to clarify why he chose not to participate in the much-anticipated gathering, which aired on E4 over the weekend.

A Rocky Journey and Civil Split

Dommett, who was paired with midwife Grace Law, 31, during the experiment, acknowledged that their relationship had an intense and rocky start. Despite initial struggles, the couple appeared to be making progress, but they ultimately decided to part ways a few episodes before the finale. In a candid video posted on his social media, Ashley explained that their split was civil, with both parties exchanging supportive messages afterwards.

He shared screenshots of their Instagram conversations, where Grace wrote: 'Hope you got home ok and enjoyed time with the boy/fam x.' Ashley replied: 'Yeah he's grown so much and still a massive character. Same to you, I think we both need it to be fair lol. How are you doing anyway, are you ok? X.'

Breakdown in Communication and Trust

The real issue, according to Dommett, arose when Grace returned for a commitment ceremony without informing him. He stated: 'Then, she went back on the show and did a commitment ceremony on her own without telling me or communicating it, just tried to paint me out to be this absolute monster. Yet again. Shock horror, right?' This left Ashley feeling betrayed and forced to defend himself, which he described as a 'really sh**ty' experience.

Following this incident, Ashley opted out of the first reunion, which was filmed shortly after the show. He emphasised: 'Our story had ended there, anyway, so there was nothing to add. I genuinely went on there to find my person, didn't and didn't see any benefits of doing the reunion.'

Prioritising Personal Well-being

When the second reunion opportunity arose, Dommett firmly declined. He questioned: 'With the way that everything had gone, my view on it was why on earth would I put myself back into that situation? And I just wouldn't. There was no way I was doing it.' Ashley highlighted that while he would have enjoyed seeing other cast members, he prioritised his mental health over re-entering what he perceived as a 'horrible situation' with 'bad people'.

In his Instagram caption, he added: 'Lots of people asking why I wasn’t at the reunions so I thought I’d post this instead of replying to everyone, btw I love the people that follow me your such amazing people, thank you.'

Fan Support and Reactions

Followers quickly rallied behind Ashley, flooding the comments with messages of support. One user praised: 'Incredible decision making - doing what’s right for you!!' Another commented: 'Never ever doubt yourself or your worth! Let them…. Go be you, enjoy your life, because you deserve all the happiness and I truly hope your new lady brings you exactly that.' Others described him as 'the most genuine person to have been on the show' and expressed empathy for his situation.

This revelation sheds light on the often-unseen emotional toll of reality television, where personal conflicts can extend beyond the screen. Ashley Dommett's decision to step back underscores a growing trend among participants prioritising self-care over public exposure.
