The One Show is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week with special programmes that began on Monday, August 10. Hosts Alex Jones and Roman Kemp are marking the milestone with celebrity guests, reunions, and memorable moments from the past two decades.
Jones, 49, has presented the show since 2010, making her its longest-serving presenter. She has worked alongside co-hosts including Jason Manford, Chris Evans, and Ronan Keating.
Marriage and Family Life
Jones is married to Charlie Thomson, an insurance broker from New Zealand. The couple met in 2011 and married in 2015. They have three children: Teddy, nine, Kit, seven, and Annie, four.
In 2023, Jones revealed that her husband had suffered a mental health crisis after being diagnosed with Lyme disease and viral meningitis. Speaking on Gabby Logan's podcast The MidPoint, she described watching him "fall apart" but said he was in a "much better place now".
In 2025, she told Jamie Laing's Great Company podcast about her own experience: "I thought I'd been depressed but then I saw it and thought 'no I haven't'."
Health and Parenting
Jones has spoken about staying healthy for her children. She told Woman & Home magazine: "I'm really, really aware that I need to be around for them, so I started to look after myself more. I can't bear the thought of leaving them. That sharpens your focus - you realise what's important."
She also discussed perimenopause on the Dig It podcast, saying: "Am I perimenopausal yet? I think I am slightly in denial. I suppose I had my youngest child at 44 and so I don't know whether my body is confused because I have tricked it into thinking that it's younger than it is because I haven't really had any symptoms. But then when I threw a four-pinter of milk across the kitchen the other day, I thought 'oh my God here we are'. The rage has started. It is so vague and thankfully, and I think this is brilliant, we are talking about it more and more now."
Previous Relationship with Steve Jones
Before her marriage, Jones dated fellow Welsh presenter Steve Jones from 1999 to 2002, when they both worked on Channel 4 show Rise. She has recalled ending the relationship on live television.
On the Dish from Waitrose podcast, she claimed Steve took an interview with Angelina Jolie that was meant for her. She later explained on Angela Scanlon's Thanks A Million podcast how she discovered what happened and agreed to surprise him on air, leading to their split.
The One Show airs weeknights on BBC One at 7pm.
