BBC Radio 2 presenter Scott Mills has delighted fans by revealing he secretly recorded a cameo for the New Year's Day episode of EastEnders. The 51-year-old star's voice was heard on the long-running BBC soap, which flashed forward to the year 2027.
The Secret Radio Shout-Out
In the pivotal scene, Max Branning was listening to Scott Mills' radio show. Mills' voice was then heard reading out a message from Max's son, Oscar, to celebrate his father's wedding day. The radio host quipped: "Time for some messages – Max Branning, good luck on your wedding day. Wow – it says here, fifth time lucky. That is from Oscar, hotter than ever in 2027."
Following the episode's broadcast, Mills took to social media to confirm the secret, sharing a clip where his name appeared in the credits. He joked: "I’ve been keeping more secrets than Santa this Christmas LOL." Fans were quick to praise his covert operation, with one suggesting his secret-keeping skills would make him a perfect candidate for Celebrity Traitors.
Fan Theories Run Wild Over Mystery Bride
While Mills' cameo was a fun reveal, the episode left viewers with a much bigger mystery: who is Max Branning set to marry in 2027? The show teased several potential brides, including Cindy Beale, Linda Carter, and Chelsea Fox, but did not confirm any.
Many fans, however, believe the show is deliberately misleading the audience. A popular theory circulating on social media points to Max's former flame, Zoe Slater, who was notably absent from the episode. One viewer speculated online: "Hold up. Unless Zoe is the bride and the ones shown are the bridesmaids???"
Another Mystery: The Pregnant Woman
Adding another layer of intrigue, the flashforward also showed Max waking up next to an unidentified pregnant woman. The camera panned to a baby scan and pregnancy supplements, but her face was hidden.
After a recent scene where Chelsea Fox hinted at finding Max attractive, many fans are convinced she is the mystery mother-to-be. Analysing a sigh heard in the preview, one fan stated: "Sounds like Chelsea that does," a sentiment echoed by numerous others online.
With Scott Mills' cameo now out in the open, EastEnders fans are left eagerly awaiting answers to the two major puzzles set for 2027. The soap continues to air Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
