Channel 5 has commissioned a 60-minute documentary examining Nigel Farage's personal wealth, including the £5 million donation from Christopher Harborne and his earnings since becoming an MP.

The hour-long special, titled Nigel Farage: Where Does the Money Come From?, is developed by ITN Productions and executive produced by Jeremy Daldry, Deputy Head of Factual at ITN Productions, with Katie Harris serving as Producer/Director. It will air on 22 August at 9.30pm.
The documentary comes as the Reform UK leader, 62, faces pressure to explain the £5 million 'gift' he received from Thai-based businessman Christopher Harborne in 2024, before he became an MP. Harborne, who previously donated to the Conservative Party, funnelled a further £12 million into Reform in 2025, making him the party's largest financial donor.
Investigation and criticism
The Parliamentary Standards Commission's investigation into Farage's finances is set to resume after he retained his seat as Clacton MP in a by-election. The Reform leader won the contest against writer and comedian Jon Harvey's novelty 'space warrior' Count Binface, his closest rival.
Critics insist Farage, who has avoided public appearances since the donation news broke, still has questions to answer. Minister for Women and Equalities Bridget Phillipson wrote in The Mirror: "He has claimed the £5 million 'gift' didn't need to be declared as it was received before his return. But that explanation quickly unravelled following reports that negotiations over his return were already under way before the payment was made."
Phillipson also noted "serious allegations" about donations involving convicted criminal George Cottrell and his mother, Fiona Cottrell, reportedly under Metropolitan Police investigation. She added: "Farage and Reform could have provided answers to these questions. But instead, the country has been subjected to weeks of political theatre."
Daldry said: "Nigel Farage's political reach has the potential to have a huge impact on our nation. The Parliamentary Standards Commission's investigation on his finances makes it the perfect time to unpack this story."
