Meet Clarkson's Farm Star Charlie Ireland's Partner

Charlie Ireland has become a firm fan-favourite on Clarkson's Farm over the years. The star, who offers sage agricultural advice to novice farmer Jeremy Clarkson on the Prime Video series, has earned himself the nickname 'Cheerful Charlie' after often being the bearer of bad news.

In the new series of Clarkson's Farm, Charlie had to break some disappointing news to Jeremy when he revealed that Diddly Squat Farm had made its first loss due to a poor season with lacklustre weather. He and Jeremy also went through the fields and looked at their disappointing onion, barley and wheat crops. Moreover, Charlie is always on hand to give important advice and updates when Jeremy is hit with another obstacle on Diddly Squat.

Charlie Ireland's Personal Life

Season 5 of Clarkson's Farm might only have wrapped up, but many fans are keen to know more about Charlie away from the cameras. Charlie is a private person and not much is known about his life away from the show. However, in an interview with The Telegraph in 2025, he revealed that he has been with his partner Catherine for around 22 years. The pair first met at university but only became an item when their paths crossed again in London.

Addressing the decision not to tie the knot, Charlie told the publication: 'It's never been on either of our agendas.' He admitted that he was a 'non-conformer' at heart, despite being something of a conformist.

Catherine and Charlie have two teenage sons together. On the website for his farming consulting firm Ceres Rural, his bio states: 'He loves spending time with his family and will soon struggle to come to terms with the fact his sons are faster, stronger and hit a cricket ball further than he can!' The family left London about a decade ago.

Charlie Ireland's Career and Charity Work

Although Clarkson's Farm has only been on screens since 2021, Charlie has been working with the former Top Gear star since 2009, not long after the broadcaster bought Diddly Squat Farm. Aside from his work on Clarkson's Farm and Ceres Rural, Charlie is an ambassador for the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association after his father Christopher died from the condition in 2011 aged just 67. Charlie often runs fundraisers on behalf of the MND Association and took part in the charity's New Year's challenge to run 31 miles in January.

Clarkson's Farm Season 5 is streaming on Prime Video now.
