Mark Chapman's BBC Salary Revealed After Tragedy

Mark Chapman will lead BBC's live coverage of England's World Cup semi-final against Argentina on Wednesday night, as the broadcaster disclosed his latest salary. The popular presenter earned between £335,000 and £340,000 during the 2025/26 financial year, a slight increase from the £325,000-£329,999 he received the previous year.

Salary and Role at BBC

The figures, part of the BBC's annual report, cover Chapman's work across flagship programmes including BBC Radio 5 Live Sport, Match of the Day, Champions League football, and Challenge Cup rugby league. Chapman, 52, has become one of the corporation's biggest sporting stars, last year landing the prestigious role of Match of the Day presenter alongside Kelly Cates and Gabby Logan.

Personal Tragedy and New Love

Chapman's recent professional rise follows heartbreaking personal tragedy. His wife Sara died in June 2020 at age 44 after a battle with cancer. The couple married in 2001 and had three children. A source told The Sun at the time: "Sadly Sara passed away on June 3. Mark and the kids are absolutely devastated."

In 2024, it emerged Chapman had found love again with estate agent Clere Collier, who divides her time between Dubai and the UK. The relationship became public after Collier posted a birthday tribute on social media: "Happy birthday to this one. My one love. So proud of all you do, the biggest heart, the kindest soul, the leader of our pack and not to mention devilishly handsome. I love you, happy 51."

Professional Strengths

Chapman continues to go from strength to strength professionally. He presents Match of the Day, covers FA Cup, Champions League, Olympics, NFL, and rugby league, and hosts The Sports Agents podcast with Gabby Logan.
