Prince Harry is reportedly "deeply uncomfortable" with Meghan Markle's strategy of profiting from the sale of outfits she wore to the Invictus Games, the charity event founded by her husband. The Duchess of Sussex has invested in the shopping app One Off and set up her own page, where she showcases her outfits to fans. According to reports, Meghan receives between 10 and 20% profit when fans purchase items through the app.
Blurring Lines Between Philanthropy and Personal Gain
The platform has advertised many of Meghan's outfits, including several she wore to the Invictus Games in Canada last year. The fact that she is profiting from attire associated with a charity event established by Prince Harry has caused a stir. A source told Heat magazine: "Meghan's latest move is really blurring the lines between philanthropy and personal gain."
The source added: "If the profits went back to Invictus, there'd be no questions, but they're going into her bank account, and that has definitely raised a few eyebrows. It's seen as very bad form. Invictus is about raising money for veterans – men and women who have given these huge sacrifices and lost so much."
Harry's Discomfort and Meghan's Response
According to the insider, Prince Harry is particularly troubled by the situation. "Harry will always try to stand up for Meghan, but this is making him deeply uncomfortable. Aside from his children and Meghan, he says that leading Invictus gives him the most purpose. It's one of the few things he's associated with that still carries a lot of public goodwill," the source said.
While Harry is reportedly bothered by the issue, Meghan has allegedly tuned out the criticism. The source told Heat that Meghan advised Harry to develop a thicker skin when it comes to public scrutiny.
Upcoming Invictus Games Events
The couple are next expected to appear at an Invictus Games event in July, marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham, UK. Both Prince Harry, aged 41, and Meghan, aged 44, are expected to attend.
