Piers Morgan has issued a brutal one-word reaction to Prince Harry's latest security setback, hours after the Duke of Sussex lost his legal bid for additional police protection during a planned UK visit. The 61-year-old Uncensored presenter took to X (formerly Twitter) on June 27 to post simply: 'Good.'
Prince Harry's Security Bid Rejected
The Duke of Sussex, 41, is reportedly reconsidering bringing his wife Meghan Markle and their two children—son Archie, seven, and daughter Lilibet, five—to the UK after the Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) turned down requests for extra protection. The decision came just a week before Harry is due to arrive for a week-long string of engagements, during which he planned to meet King Charles and visit the final resting place of Princess Diana.
In a follow-up post, Morgan added: 'Why the hell should we pay for his security?' The remark quickly drew 8.8 million followers into a heated debate, splitting opinion across the platform.
Public Reaction Divided
Supporters of Harry defended the prince. One user wrote: 'An odd one because I do see your point. But Harry was born into this, he didn't choose royalty and fame so he deserves security. I know he opted out, but that still doesn't stop him being a target in today's world.' Another echoed: 'He is the Son of the King and deserves a minimal level of Security. He still is in line for the Throne. He and Meghan are of "Service" for humanity and although you may not care for them Piers, they are very good people/family.' A third added: 'Because he didn't choose to be born a prince. The king should cover the costs.'
However, some sided with Morgan. One user commented: 'Why should we be paying for any of them? Let them fund their own smiling and waving activities.'
Security Threats Revealed
A spokesperson for the duke stated that Harry is continuing to look at 'every available option' to 'enable the visit to proceed safely.' According to a bombshell report obtained by ITV News on July 2, a US-based security firm employed by Harry and Meghan detailed dozens of threats and potential attacks facing the Duke of Sussex. The report highlighted that 'the highest priority threat' to the Sussex family 'comes from stochastic terrorism (also known as grassroots or lone actor terrorism).'
The security firm's findings underscore the risks Harry faces despite stepping down as a senior royal in 2020. Morgan, a longtime critic of the Sussexes, has frequently voiced his opinions on Harry and Meghan since their departure from royal duties.
