Plastic surgeons in the US and UK report a rise in patients seeking facial features resembling Melania Trump and Ivanka Trump. Norman Rowe, a Manhattan surgeon, told Page Six that since the 2016 primary, he has seen four to six women per month citing Ivanka as their inspiration, spending up to $40,000 on temporary fillers and Botox, and up to $50,000 on invasive procedures like rhinoplasty and cheek implants.
Franklin Rose, a Houston surgeon, told USA Today that Ivanka has become a new style icon for plastic surgery, and he offers a 'Melania makeover'. In the UK, Tijion Esho of the ESHO clinic noted a few clients mentioning Ivanka, particularly impressed by her jawline. However, he cautioned that such requests may indicate body dysmorphia and unrealistic expectations.
Celebrity-inspired trends are not new. London surgeon Julian de Silva previously compiled a 'perfect' face from most-requested features: the Duchess of Cambridge's nose, Keira Knightley's eyes, Penelope Cruz's lips, and Miley Cyrus's forehead. Esho observed past trends for Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Lopez, and the Kardashians, with the latter driving demand for strong brows, cheekbones, and larger lips.
Alan Matarasso, a New York cosmetic surgeon, attributes the Trump-inspired trend to media exposure. 'Whenever an attractive, popular figure appears in the media a lot, you will get this,' he said. 'It's human nature. They happen to be the right look at the right time.'
