Paul Gallagher, the older brother of Oasis stars Noel and Liam Gallagher, has been charged with rape and other sexual offences, according to Scotland Yard. The 59-year-old, from East Finchley, is set to appear before Westminster Magistrates' Court on 27 August.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Gallagher faces charges including rape, coercive and controlling behaviour, three counts of sexual assault, three counts of intentional strangulation, two counts of making a threat to kill, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm. The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2022 and 2024, following an investigation that began last year.
A statement from Scotland Yard said a woman is being supported by specially trained officers. Gallagher's solicitors stated that their client has consistently engaged with police and strongly denies all allegations, adding that he looks forward to clearing his name.
The charges come as Liam and Noel Gallagher continue their Oasis reunion tour, their first live shows together in the UK since 2009. The tour began in Cardiff last month and includes dates in Manchester, London, Edinburgh, and Dublin, with further international shows planned.
Paul Gallagher grew up with his siblings in Burnage, Manchester, but has never been involved with the band. He published a book in 1997 titled Brothers: From Childhood to Oasis and has worked as a DJ and photographer.
