Ruth Langsford is said to be at the end of her tether with her estranged husband, Eamonn Holmes, following reports he made no effort to contact their son during the Christmas holidays. The television presenters, a fixture on British screens for years, ended their 14-year marriage in June 2024 after 27 years together.
A Festive Snub Deepens Family Rift
According to a report in Bella Magazine, the 66-year-old GB News presenter gave his 23-year-old son, Jack, "the cold shoulder" over the festive season. A source close to the situation revealed that Ruth is "furious" Eamonn did not extend an olive branch to their only child together during Christmas and New Year.
"She says the least Eamonn could have done was to reach out and wish him good tidings and keep the door open," the insider stated, adding emphatically, "She won't forgive him." The report further claims that Eamonn also distanced himself from his three older children—son Niall and daughter Rebecca, whom he shares with ex-wife Gabrielle—over the holidays.
Navigating Life After Separation
The couple's split has seen them take starkly different paths. Shortly after the separation was announced, Eamonn moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, who is 22 years his junior. In December, he confirmed to The Sun that he would be spending Christmas with his new partner, even hinting at future holidays abroad.
In contrast, Ruth Langsford has remained single and has been open about seeking professional support to cope with the breakdown of her long-term marriage. The Loose Women star told woman&home magazine that she began counselling after the separation and continues to use it as a powerful tool. "The end of a very long relationship takes a lot of unravelling," she explained. "Counselling helps you move on from it, to not be held back."
Despite the initial darkness, Ruth now sees light ahead, stating defiantly, "I will survive." She has not ruled out finding love again in the future.
An Ongoing Battle: Hearts, Home and HMRC
The former This Morning co-hosts are not yet officially divorced and are currently locked in a financial dispute. It is understood that Ruth is upset by the prospect of having to sell their marital home as part of the settlement.
Meanwhile, Eamonn has publicly claimed he has been "ruined" by a separate battle with HMRC. The tax authority is investigating whether he was a self-employed freelancer or a "disguised employee" of ITV during his tenure presenting This Morning between 2011 and 2015.
The family divide appears entrenched, with previous reports indicating that Jack has sided with his mother throughout the divorce proceedings. A source told The Daily Mail last July that "things remain strained" between Jack and his father. Representatives for Eamonn Holmes were contacted for comment regarding the Christmas allegations.
