It is the Met Gala deep-fake fashion trend that has gone viral, and now former Married at First Sight bride Jules Robinson has joined the act with her own cringey AI-generated image of herself supposedly arriving at the celebrated event.
Jules Robinson's AI Met Gala Post
The 44-year-old took to Instagram to share a picture that appeared to be taken at the A-list charity event in New York, which featured celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie. In the image, Jules is seen posing against the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in Manhattan, looking glamorous in a sheer cape and a dazzling gown embroidered with crystals.
The fake photo certainly fooled many of the mother-of-two's followers, with numerous fans messaging the influencer to praise her fashion sense. One fan wrote, "Jules, you are just beautiful," while another added, "Such a cute pic."
Followers React to the Fake Image
However, several followers quickly caught on to Jules's cheeky post. One wrote, "Oh, you are hilarious." Another commented, "It's AI," after a follower asked, "Wow, did you go to the Met Gala?" The trend of Met Gala fake images first gained attention in 2024 when AI-generated photos of A-listers like Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Katy Perry supposedly arriving at the event went viral. Many of these bogus pictures featured the celebrities on the red carpet wearing highly creative but fake outfits.
Gigi Hadid's Father Falls for AI Image
This year's Met Gala did not escape the trolls either, with Gigi Hadid's father, Mohamed, sharing an AI-generated photo of his daughter, believing it was her at the event. The 77-year-old property mogul called the fake look a "classic Hadid moment" as he praised her white and gold outfit, which was created using AI. The synthetic image showed Gigi in a dramatic gown with puff sleeves and a long train decorated with a floral gold pattern. Alongside the pictures, Mohamed wrote, "She looks like she came out of a frame from the museum. A classic Hadid moment."
Mohamed was not far off with his statement, as the photo was indeed a piece of art, but computer-generated. After he accidentally shared the fake image, it was later revealed that Gigi actually attended the event wearing a sparkling sheer dress.
Katy Perry's Dig at the AI Trend
Pop star Katy Perry took a sharp dig at the Met Gala AI trend when she appeared at the event in a futuristic outfit featuring a metallic face mask. She also wore six-fingered gloves as a protest against the AI trend. The moment was later shared on X, with many followers seeing her antics as a nod to her fake image going viral during the 2024 Met Gala, which she did not actually attend.
