Jake Reiner, son of the late Rob and Michele Reiner, has released a statement four months after his parents were murdered in their California home. The 34-year-old shared an emotional post on Instagram alongside a Substack essay detailing his grief.
In his essay, Jake described receiving a call from his sister Romy while at a celebration of life, informing him of their father's death, followed minutes later by news of their mother's death. 'My world, as I knew it, had collapsed,' he wrote. 'I was robbed of so many things that day. My parents won't be at my wedding, they won't get to hold their future grandchild.'
Jake's brother Nick, 32, has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths. He pleaded not guilty at an arraignment in February and is next due in court on April 29. If convicted, he faces life in prison without parole or the death penalty. Jake acknowledged the difficulty of processing the loss of both parents and having his brother 'at the centre' of the tragedy.
Rob Reiner, 78, and his wife Michele, 70, died from multiple sharp force injuries on December 14, 2025. The couple had attended Conan O'Brien's Christmas party with Nick hours before their deaths, where a heated argument reportedly occurred.
