A 59-year-old man has been arrested at a high-end steak restaurant in Miami after repeatedly demanding $6 million from celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, despite Ramsay having no connection to the establishment.
Joaquin Nuñez was taken into custody on June 1 at Papi Steak, where he was found sitting in a booth before opening hours. According to an arrest report from Miami Police Department, Nuñez claimed Ramsay owed him money because 'his face was used in a Netflix documentary.'
Police bodycam footage shows Nuñez shouting, 'Call Gordon Ramsay, call Gordon Ramsay, papa,' as officers handcuffed him. He had previously locked employees inside the restaurant with a padlock in May, forcing them to call a locksmith. Staff also reported he left a note detailing his demands from the British chef.
Nuñez has been charged with attempted extortion, trespassing, and other offences. The restaurant manager warned him not to return or repeat the padlock incident before he was taken to a holding cell.
