Brooklyn Beckham has launched an astonishing attack on his parents, David and Victoria, claiming he has been “controlled by a family that value public promotion above all else”. The 26-year-old eldest son of the former football star and Spice Girl addressed the long-standing feud in a six-page statement posted to Instagram on Monday night.
In the statement, Brooklyn announced he has no wish to reconcile with his family, writing: “For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into.” He also alleged they placed “countless lies in the media” to preserve their facade.
Brooklyn, who married model and heiress Nicola Peltz in April 2022, claimed his parents had tried to ruin his relationship since before the wedding. He accused his mother Victoria of cancelling Nicola’s wedding dress “in the eleventh hour” and “hijacking” the first dance, describing it as “inappropriate” and humiliating.
He also addressed reports that he and Nicola snubbed his father’s 50th birthday party, writing that they travelled to London but were “rejected for a week” and only offered to see him without Nicola. “It was a slap in the face,” he said. He added that his family later refused to see him in Los Angeles.
Concluding, Brooklyn said: “My family values public promotion and endorsements above all else. Brand Beckham comes first.” He claimed that for the first time since stepping away, his anxiety has disappeared, and he and his wife want “peace, privacy and happiness”. The Independent has approached David and Victoria Beckham for comment.
