A man who had been accused of stalking singer Billie Eilish has been killed by a train while jogging on Long Island, New York. Prenell Rousseau, 30, was struck by a Long Island Rail Road train at approximately 5:38 a.m. on Wednesday, according to local officials.
The incident appears to have been an accident, with reports indicating Rousseau was jogging 'on or near' the tracks at the time. The New York Post reported that his death was not believed to be suspicious.
Rousseau was arrested in 2020 after repeatedly showing up at Eilish's home without invitation. Court documents filed by Eilish described his 'erratic behaviour' and detailed how he approached her family home seven times over two days in early May 2020.
During his first visit, Rousseau rang the doorbell and spoke to Eilish's father through a surveillance camera, insisting he was supposed to be there. Despite being told he had the wrong house, he returned later that evening, prompting Eilish's family to call a private security company.
'While we waited for security, Mr. Rousseau remained on our porch, sat down and began to read a book while also continuing to engage in a periodic monologue,' Eilish said in court records. 'My father repeatedly asked him to leave, but he refused.'
Eilish, then 18, said she and her family were afraid of Rousseau, particularly as he was visiting during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and was not wearing a face mask. Rousseau was subsequently barred from contacting Eilish or her parents and ordered to stay at least 100 yards away from them.
