Wembley faces renewed calls to cancel Manson's 2027 Slipknot support slot
Wembley urged to drop Manson from 2027 Slipknot show

Wembley Stadium is facing renewed calls from a North London councillor and 13 domestic and sexual abuse charities to cancel Marilyn Manson's performance at the venue in July 2027, where he is billed as the supporting act for Slipknot.

Anton Georgiou, a Brent Councillor and leader of the Liberal Democrats, has urged the venue and Brent Council to oppose the show, raising "serious concerns" about giving the musician a platform. Manson, whose real name is Brian Hugh Warner, is set to face a jury trial in November 2027 amid ongoing allegations of sexual misconduct and abuse made by multiple women.

Allegations and Legal Proceedings

The allegations come from former personal assistant Ashley Walters, Westworld actor Evan Rachel Wood, and Game of Thrones actor Esmé Bianco, who have made claims through civil lawsuits in the US and public statements. The 57-year-old faces a criminal trial next year following sexual assault allegations made by Ms Walters, but has consistently denied wrongdoing, saying the claims are false.

Georgiou reiterated his concerns, noting that previous lawsuits brought against Warner by four women were thrown out as they exceeded the statute of limitations. He said Warner will return to court in November 2027 to face a jury trial after a US judge reinstated a lawsuit under a new law enabling old sexual assault cases to be heard.

Charities Join the Call

The councillor has amassed 13 signatures from abuse charities for a new letter to Wembley Stadium. Signatories include Chris Green OBE and Björn Suttka, founders of Male Allies Challenging Sexism (MACS), who said their "No Abusers on Stage" campaign has run since June 2023 to raise awareness about male musicians who continue performing despite testimonies against them.

Other signatories include No Stage for Abusers, Snap Survivors Network, The Model Alliance, Victim's Rights Advocacy, Sexual Predator Accountability Institute, Stand With Survivors, Prosopon Healing, Female Composer Safety League, Courageous Women Association, Men at Work, Collective Shout, and Kaleidoscopic UK, among others.

Stadium and Council Response

Wembley Stadium said events are agreed several months in advance and that the selection of support acts is at the discretion of the promoter and the headline artist. A representative reiterated their commitment to guest safety and confirmed they have contacted the councillor to discuss his concerns.

Brent Council previously said decisions about who performs at Wembley Stadium are a matter for the venue and event organisers, as the council has no direct control over commercial bookings. The council encouraged the headline act and organisers to reflect on feedback from residents and survivors of violence and abuse, reaffirming its commitment to tackling violence against women and girls.
