US singer Teddy Swims has been announced as the headline performer for the 2025 NRL Grand Final, set to take place on 5 October at Sydney's Accor Stadium. The artist confirmed the news on social media, calling it an honour and sharing a video of himself holding a rugby league ball.
NRL CEO Andrew Abdo described Swims as one of the most exciting music talents globally, praising his appeal to young audiences in Australia, the US and worldwide. Abdo said the inclusion of a fresh superstar like Swims alongside elite athletes would elevate the entertainment experience for sports fans.
The Grand Final appearance coincides with Swims' upcoming tour of Australia and New Zealand, featuring 12 arena shows next month. Australian singer Matt Corby will join as special guest, expressing his admiration for Swims' vocals and soulful sound. Corby recalled meeting Swims at a Sydney show in 2023 and being honoured to join the tour.
Swims has been touring North America, with his breakout single 'Lose Control' making history as the first song to spend 100 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hot 100. The tour included multiple sold-out shows before heading to Australia.
The announcement likely rules out Jimmy Barnes performing at the event, despite the Cold Chisel legend expressing interest in celebrating the 40th anniversary of his hit 'Working Class Man' at the final.
