Swift acknowledged the mixed reviews the album has received, with some critics praising its joyful sound and others criticising the lyrics for a perceived lack of depth. Variety's Chris Willman described it as 'as close to being an uncomplicated good time as anything she’s ever done'. Swift stated that an album reflects what the artist is going through in life, and that listeners' reactions are influenced by their own experiences.
The Grammy-winning singer-songwriter also spoke about her focus on legacy, saying she knows she adores the album and that it fits the theme of the Showgirl. She will continue her promotional blitz with an appearance on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' on 8 October.
