An alcohol-free party born out of a question about dancing is heading to Sefton Park Palm House next month. Movers n Soul Shakers, organised by Geniene Azalea and Jake Jervis of Science of Sound CIC, launched two years ago at 24 Kitchen Street as a self-funded event.
What to expect at the event
The wellbeing event will feature Liverpool club names Andy Carroll and Robbie Edwards, plus live vocalists Chantelle Cole, winner of YourSong, and The Voice contestant Jamie Deary. Guests can also enjoy percussion, handpan, performing artists, guided somatic shaking and a closing sound bath beneath the Palm House's glass roof, alongside a glitter station.
The event, scheduled for Wednesday, November 4, is alcohol-free. It was born out of a love of dancing and the question: "Why do so many people feel they need a drink before stepping onto a dance floor?"
Organisers on the response
Organiser Genevieve Azalea said: "The first time, we put everything into it because we believed in the idea."
"Afterwards people told us they felt amazing. They loved the different parts of the event and how it all came together to feel different from other events they'd been to. That feedback made us want to do it again."
"Now, with National Lottery funding, we can pay more artists to take part and bring even more into the experience, while keeping entry accessible for all."
Entry and details
The event is free to enter, with optional donations. Guests don't need to be teetotal, in recovery or giving anything up. It is open to regular drinkers who are curious, people who have stopped, and anyone who simply fancies being home at a reasonable hour on a school night.
Geniene added: "Plenty of people love to dance but hate clubs, maybe it's the noise, the late nights, the pressure to drink, or walking in on your own. You can come by yourself and be welcomed, or stand at the edge until you're ready. There's room to be yourself."
Movers n Soul Shakers – The Revival takes place Wednesday, November 4 2026, 6pm–8pm at Sefton Park Palm House, Liverpool. Entry is free, with optional donations, and the theme is Remember Your Spark. More information and tickets are available on Skiddle.
