Shakira Set for Miami Move in Early April After Split
Shakira Set for Miami Move in Early April After Split

Shakira is reportedly just three weeks away from relocating to Miami with her two sons, Milan and Sasha, following her split from ex-partner Gerard Piqué. The Colombian singer, 46, had delayed her move from Barcelona earlier this year due to her father William Mubarak’s poor health, but sources now indicate she plans to travel at the start of April to coincide with the US spring break.

According to Spanish journalist Laura Fa, who reports for El Periodico, the singer has a scheduled date for the move in early April. Colleague Lorena Vasquez added that the information comes from the former couple’s close circle, noting that the only potential obstacle remains Shakira’s father’s health, which is currently complicated. The plan is for Shakira and her sons to start classes in Miami after the spring break.

Shakira and Piqué, who split in May 2022 after over a decade together, finalised a child custody agreement in November. The deal allows Shakira to move to Miami, where she previously lived and has family, while Piqué will spend holiday time with the children. The custody arrangement was a key sticking point in their negotiations, which culminated in a 12-hour meeting with lawyers.

In her first TV interview since the split, Shakira said she feels “strengthened” and self-sufficient, having previously believed the “story” that a woman needs a man. She now feels complete relying on herself. Her father was hospitalised in Barcelona last year after a fall, which she shared on Instagram in June.
