Passengers are facing delays on some trains to and from Manchester Piccadilly with lines blocked amid a signal fault. Reduced services are running in and out of the station this morning (Tuesday, September 22), with some trains cancelled or revised.
Operators affected
Some services are starting or terminating from alternative stations, National Rail said. Operators affected include Avanti West Coast, CrossCountry, East Midlands Railway, Northern, TransPennine Express and Transport for Wales.
Station statement
In a post on X, the station said: "There are currently reduced services in and out of Manchester Piccadilly due to a fault with the signalling equipment. We are working as quickly as possible to identify and fix the fault. Check @nationalrailenq or with your train operator for the latest travel info."
National Rail advice
National Rail said: "A fault with the signalling system at Manchester Piccadilly means that some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running to, from and through Manchester Piccadilly will be cancelled or revised to terminate / start back from alternative stations."
