Salt and Tar confirms Holly Johnson as first 2027 headliner

Salt and Tar has confirmed Holly Johnson, of Frankie Goes to Hollywood, as the first headline act for its 2027 music weekender in Bootle. The announcement was made today (Monday, October 26).

Johnson will take to the stage on Saturday, August 14, alongside special guests. The event is set to return to Lock and Quay for the four-day weekend, which runs from August 13 to 17.

A Liverpool Legend Returns

The Wavertree vocalist is best known as the lead singer of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. The band achieved major success in the mid-1980s, with their debut single 'Relax' reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart for five consecutive weeks and becoming one of the best-selling UK singles of all time.

Johnson brought his Welcome to The Pleasuredome 40th anniversary tour to his home city last year. He will now return to perform at Salt and Tar in August next year.
