Paloma Faith has shared her four-year-old daughter's candid response to being betrayed by close friend Alan Carr on The Celebrity Traitors. The singer, 44, was the first celebrity eliminated from the BBC game show on Thursday after Carr, a fellow contestant, was tasked with 'murdering' her.
Appearing on The One Show on Friday, Faith said she felt 'humiliated and embarrassed' by her early exit. 'I psyched myself up,' she told hosts Alex Jones and Lauren Laverne. 'I brought six suitcases of clothes! I was ready for a fashion parade!'
Faith also recounted her daughter's reaction to Carr's backstabbing move. 'My four-year-old turned to me this morning and said, “Mama, I don’t like Alan anymore, he can’t come to our house,”' the musician recalled.
The betrayal was particularly shocking given Faith and Carr's long-standing friendship. Carr, along with fellow traitors Jonathan Ross and Cat Burns, had to touch the face of the celebrity they wanted to eliminate. Carr pretended to remove a piece of hair from Faith's cheek to carry out the task.
Despite the televised betrayal, Faith insisted there were no hard feelings, saying she had texted Carr good luck. 'There’s no one as devastated as me,' she added. 'My default setting is forgiveness, but I don’t forget.' Carr has also spoken about feeling guilty for 'murdering' his real-life friend.
The next episode of Celebrity Traitors airs on Wednesday 15 October at 9pm on BBC One, with contestants including Stephen Fry, Kate Garraway, and Tom Daley competing for a £100,000 charity prize.
