Liam Gallagher has sent Oasis reunion rumours into overdrive with a cryptic post on X, just 24 hours after a viral Reddit post claimed a comeback announcement is imminent. The 51-year-old singer, who has been quiet on social media in recent weeks, declared: 'That’s 1 small step for man 1 giant leap for ROCK n ROLL LG x.'
The Reddit post, which appeared on the Oasis subreddit on Monday, claimed the band would reunite for a show at Wembley Stadium. The poster said they were told by someone in the music industry that an announcement would come within weeks. Other fans suggested further dates at Heaton Park and Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh had been provisionally pencilled in.
Fans quickly seized on Liam's tweet as 'proof' of a reunion. One responded: 'I would bet that you finally talked to each other in person after his final gig from the night before.' Another wrote: 'Stop teasing we already know Oasis is back next year.' The speculation comes as Noel Gallagher brought his own tour to a close on Sunday, headlining Y Not Festival in Derbyshire, having scrapped plans for a new acoustic album in April, citing boredom with the process.
Some fans interpreted Noel's scrapped album as a sign he had cleared his schedule for a potential 30th anniversary tour of Oasis' 1995 album '(What's the Story) Morning Glory?' Meanwhile, Liam's son Gene told the Sunday Times last week that he would love an Oasis reunion but it was 'beyond my control', adding: 'I get the feeling my dad wants it too. Let’s hope it happens.'
