Norway’s Eurovision 2026 Hopeful Jonas Lovv Aims to Shine

Jonas Lovv, the rock singer representing Norway at the 2026 Eurovision Song Contest, first gained attention in his home country after competing on the 10th season of The Voice last year, where he reached the semi-final. Hailing from Bergen, Lovv sees this year’s contest as a chance to fully establish himself as an artist, having honed his craft on the live stage at a series of gigs and festivals in summer 2025.

Lovv’s Eurovision entry, “Ya Ya Ya,” opens with snarling electric guitars and pounding drums, with lyrics including: “You've been thinking 'bout love, how it got you so low/ Baby I'm an animal, I got no self control.” The 31-year-old, who lives with his girlfriend and son in Fyllingsdalen, outside Bergen, says he wants audiences to see that he performs simply because he loves music.

Norway has a mixed history at Eurovision, having won three times, most recently with Alexander Rybak’s “Fairytale” in 2009, but also holding the record for the most last-place finishes, with 12. The country fared well in 2023, landing in the top five with Alessandra’s “Queen of Kings,” but placed 18th last year with Kyle Alessandro’s “Lighter.”

Lovv declined to explain the meaning behind “Ya Ya Ya,” saying he does not want to ruin listeners’ first impressions. On winning the contest, he said: “Of course, winning ESC would be incredible. But it would also secure my future as an artist and the well-being of my family — so it would honestly mean the world to me.”
