Mis-Teeq Reunion for 25th Anniversary of Debut Album
Mis-Teeq Reunion for 25th Anniversary of Debut Album

UK garage legends Mis-Teeq are reuniting for a one-off performance at Wembley Arena to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album, Lickin' on Both Sides. The group, consisting of Sabrina Washington, Su-Elise Nash, and Alesha Dixon, will perform under the fitting title 'One Night Stand'. The announcement follows the launch of a new Mis-Teeq Instagram account last month, which fuelled speculation among fans.

Mis-Teeq rose to fame in the early 2000s with hits such as 'All I Want', 'Why?', and 'One Night Stand', becoming key ambassadors for UK garage. Their second album featured the global hit 'Scandalous', but the band disbanded in 2005 after their label, Telstar, collapsed. Dixon later found fame as a judge on Strictly Come Dancing and Britain's Got Talent.

The reunion has sparked excitement among fans, but also raises questions about the financial treatment of female vocalists in dance music. Many vocalists, particularly Black women, have historically received little compensation despite their contributions. For example, Sweet Female Attitude's Leanne Brown earned little from the hit 'Flowers', despite it amassing nearly 97 million streams on Spotify, and Jodie Aysha alleges she was short-changed by six figures on 'Heartbroken'.

Mis-Teeq were in a stronger position, with all members holding writing credits, though Washington reportedly sued Dixon and Universal over royalty disparities. The reunion suggests these issues have been resolved amicably. Ticket prices have not yet been announced.
