Lighthouse Family reunite for 2027 tour with Newcastle gig

Lighthouse Family are reuniting for a 2027 tour, four years after their split, with a homecoming gig at Newcastle City Hall on March 25.

The duo, Paul Tucker and singer Tunde Baiyewu, met while studying at university in Newcastle in the early 90s and working in the same bar. They recorded demos of songs Paul had written years earlier, including Ocean Drive, which became one of their biggest hits.

Chart Success and Breakthrough

Their chart breakthrough came in 1996 when Lifted was re-released and reached the top 5. The song helped their debut album Ocean Drive go six times platinum by the end of 1997, with the title track and Goodbye Heartbreak also becoming major hits. Their second album, Postcards from Heaven, was also a massive seller, spawning singles like High and Raincloud.

The pair were due to headline one night of the 2022 Mouth of the Tyne festival before Paul confirmed their split. Tunde has since pursued a solo career, supporting acts such as Gabrielle on tour.

2027 Tour Dates and Tickets

Dates for the 2027 tour were confirmed on Monday morning. Throughout March, the duo will revisit Ocean Drive alongside fan favourites from their catalogue, with dates across the UK and Ireland, including The London Palladium and Manchester's Bridgewater Hall. The penultimate night, on March 25, will see them play Newcastle City Hall, a venue they know well.

Tickets go on sale this coming Friday, October 23.
