Laura Whitmore has given birth to her second child, arriving earlier than expected. The TV presenter and her husband, comedian Iain Stirling, announced the news on social media, joking that 'a new player has entered the game'. The couple already have a daughter, Stevie, born in March 2021.
Whitmore described the birth as 'dramatic' and 'unexpectedly early'. She revealed she had prepared a five-hour birthing playlist but only managed to play three songs. 'It’s a reaaally good playlist, can somebody please use it,' she wrote on Instagram, adding that she has been enjoying 'baby smells, lack of sleep and scrumptious hands and wrists'.
Stirling also shared his excitement, posting: 'Say hello to our newest living legend. I always wanted someone in the house who would stay up late and watch the World Cup with me. But this feels a little excessive.'
Whitmore had kept her pregnancy private for months before announcing it in February. She posted photos contrasting her Instagram appearance with reality, captioning them: 'Instagram V Reality - Spoiler: It wasn’t just a big meal mama ate. She’s been cooking away! I’d like to thank stretchy pants and travel sick bags.'
The presenter previously said pregnancy made her feel confident about her body, but she found the public commentary difficult. After giving birth, she made a conscious effort to be kind to herself, noting that the focus often shifts entirely to the baby. 'I chose to breastfeed exclusively; everything was about my baby - I didn’t really think about my body as something for me,' she said.
