The second season of Johnny Vegas' Little Shop of Antiques airs on Tuesday evening (July 21) on Quest TV, featuring the star running his pop-up shop, Vintage Vegas, to sell collectibles and quirky items.
Johnny's premises are at the authentic Dagfields Antique Village near Nantwich in Cheshire, which merits a visit for its genuine treasure trove of second-hand shops and antiques. The village has established itself as a popular destination for days out, especially during weekends and bank holidays.
Shop location and opening times
Dagfields is at Crewe Road, Walgherton near Nantwich, Cheshire, with postcode CW5 7LG. The antiques village opens daily from 10am to 5pm and is free to enter.
In May, Johnny announced the re-opening of his emporium in an Instagram video: "I'm Back! Back at Dagfields with Vintage Vegas Little Shop of Antiques on Quest and we're getting ready for our new opening this Sunday, 24th May from about 12ish onwards."
Touring his showroom, he added: "I'm dead excited loads of new stuff coming out, some cracking stock, I've not stopped buying since last time and I can't wait to pass it on to you, give it a good home, see you soon."
He's also announced the shop will now operate "most weekends", and there are another 300 antiques dealers also operating on site to enjoy. Boasting seven enormous vintage emporiums and numerous mini boutiques, Dagfields describes itself as the "largest craft and antiques centre in the north west".
Why Johnny started the shop
Speaking to Dermot O'Leary and Alison Hammond on This Morning, Johnny explained why he launched his new antiques business away from his showbiz career. "To me, my house is a visual diary. If I walk into a room, you go, 'I will remember where I was when I bought that', so everything tells a story, it's my diary", Johnny explained.
"I just love it, and I will go into any charity shop, I'm not a snob, but every now and then you walk in and go 'that's nice'."
Alison asked: "Do you buy for yourself now that you have your own shop, as people are going to be buying from the shop?" Johnny replied, "Well, you buy from the heart. I don't claim to have any knowledge; it's not a presenting gig for me. A film crew came to my house and said, 'You have got some stuff', I went, 'I know', they go, 'Can you do this for a living?' and that's quite an interesting question."
He added: "Don't get me wrong, I am always looking for a plan B to get out of this godforsaken business that they call TV, because all they will all turn on you at some point," as Alison and Dermot laughed.
