Jamie Webster has teased "big news" in a video with actor James Nelson-Joyce, prompting fans to speculate about a potential concert announcement.
The 32-year-old singer from Norris Green, who rose to prominence on Liverpool's pub circuit, shared the teaser on Friday night. The video features Nelson-Joyce, best known for his role as Michael Kavanagh on the BBC series This City Is Ours.
Teaser video and fan reaction
In the video, Nelson-Joyce can be heard recalling lyrics from Webster's song "This Place," a tribute to Liverpool. He said: "When I think about the birds and George's Hall, and when they tried to knock us down, but we stood up tall. This city will forever be my saving grace. So no matter where I am, I'll raise a glass to this place."
In an Instagram post, Webster wrote directly to Liverpool: "Liverpool...I've been travelling places that I don't belong." He added: "Big news coming Monday [eyes emoji]. Sign up now to be the first to know - link in bio."
Fans flooded the comments with guesses about the announcement. One said: "Sefton Park was epic the Pier Head would be legendary." A second replied: "He did Pier Head a couple of years back, was boss." A third wrote: "Sefton Park" with eyes emojis, and a fourth said: "GO ON THEN."
Collaboration history and recent success
This is not the first collaboration between the two. Nelson-Joyce starred in the official music video for Webster's single "Across the River," filmed at iconic Liverpool locations including Blackstock Market and the Pier Head.
Webster has enjoyed significant success, with sell-out performances at Sefton Park, Liverpool Waterfront, and the M&S Bank Arena, as well as four albums. He released his fourth album, "Running Round The Sun," last month.
Speaking to the ECHO's Hannah Rees ahead of its September release, Webster said: "I can't quite believe that it's my fourth album already. Time passes you by when you're having fun, doesn't it? It's been nearly two years since I've done my own proper tour with the band, under all the lights and everything else. Sometimes I feel like when you take a bit of time out, you feel like you've sort of fallen behind a little bit."
He added: "So I'm really looking forward to getting out now and putting my foot on the gas and, you know, knocking down a few more walls and breaking through a few more ceilings, hopefully."
Nelson-Joyce will return to screens on Sunday night for series two of This City Is Ours, following a busy year since proving his leading man credentials in the BBC programme.
