Jamie Miller tops UK singles chart, first Welsh artist in 15 years

Jamie Miller has become the first Welsh artist in 15 years to claim a number one single, according to the Official Charts Company. The 29-year-old's track Babydoll has stormed to the top of the singles chart, making him the first Welsh artist since 2011 to reach the coveted top spot, following Sian Evans's appearance on DJ Fresh's Louder.

A Historic Milestone for Welsh Music

He has also become the first solo male Welsh artist in more than four decades to lead the singles chart, following Shakin' Stevens's iconic 1985 festive hit, Merry Christmas Everyone. Miller, originally from Cardiff, told Official Charts: "I don't even know what to say other than thank-you so much for getting me number one, this is the biggest thing that's ever happened to me in my life, I love you guys."

Originally released in August, the song has steadily climbed the charts following the release of a remixed version featuring Off Campus star Antonio Cipriano. The track has since exploded in popularity, going viral across social media platforms, with users taking part in a Babydoll dance trend.

Chart Competition and Album Success

Babydoll pipped Tate McRae's Housewife, which debuted at number two, while Olivia Rodrigo's remixed version of Expectations with Chappell Roan climbed to number three. The top five was rounded off by Ashe's Stop The Wedding at number four, followed by Sienna Spiro's Great Expectation.

Elsewhere, Irish outfit Fontaines DC secured their second chart-topping album with Dopamine Chamber. The record marked the third biggest opening week for an album in 2026, trailing only Harry Styles's Kiss All The Time, Disco, Occasionally and Olivia Rodrigo's You Seem Pretty Sad For A Girl So In Love. The album also stands as the fastest-selling Irish studio LP in 15 years, since Snow Patrol's 2011 release Fallen Empires.

Other Chart Highlights

Rodrigo's record entered the chart at number two this week. The top five of the album chart was rounded out by Michael Jackson's The Essential at number three, Olivia Dean's The Art Of Loving at number four, and Sienna Spiro's Visitor at number five. Elsewhere in the charts, London-born artist Rachel Chinouriri secured her first top 10 entry with her second studio album, I think I Spoke Too Soon.
