Hayley Williams, lead singer of Paramore, surprised fans on Monday by releasing 17 new songs on her website. The tracks were available for just over 24 hours before being removed with the message, “Thank you for listening.”
Fans accessed the songs via a code from Williams' hair dye company, Good Dye Young. The collection included tracks such as “True Believer,” “Mirtazapine,” “Hard,” “Negative Self Talk,” “Discovery Channel” and “Zissou.” A “Misc” folder also featured a 2017 performance video from Phoenix, a lyric book image, and a “Hayley Williams is my favorite band” t-shirt.
It remains unclear whether the songs form a complete album or are standalone releases. Williams last released the single “I Like It I Like It” with Moses Sumney earlier this year. Her solo discography includes two albums, “Petals for Armor” (2020) and “Flowers for Vases / Descansos” (2021), along with three EPs.
The surprise drop came days after Paramore released a deluxe digital edition of their debut album “All We Know Is Falling” for its 20th anniversary. The edition included the first digital release of “The Summer Tic” EP, originally only on CD.
Paramore parted ways with longtime label Atlantic Records last December and plan to continue as an independent band, with work on new music already underway.
