Singer Halsey has offered fans a heartfelt glimpse into her restorative holiday in Hawaii, undertaken to allow her body to recover after undergoing further chemotherapy and a demanding tour schedule.
A Much-Needed Hawaiian Retreat
The 30-year-old musician, whose real name is Ashley Frangipane, posted a series of sun-soaked photographs to Instagram on Tuesday from Kailua-Kona. The images showed her enjoying quality time with her fiancé, actor Avan Jogia. In one striking selfie, Halsey appeared makeup-free and radiant, wearing a pink and blue striped bikini top.
Her candid post detailed the purpose of the trip, explaining she had finally taken a break after the whirlwind of her summer tour and immediate work on the upcoming BADLANDS tour. "It felt like I was going a million miles a minute," she wrote.
Managing Serious Health Conditions
The holiday held deeper significance as a period of physical recovery. Halsey revealed she was allowing her body to recover after undergoing chemotherapy. In a recent TikTok video, the singer shared that she had just completed another few sessions of chemo and had a new medical port implanted.
An implanted port, or portacath, is a small device placed under the skin that remains until chemotherapy treatment finishes, allowing for easier administration of medicine.
Halsey is managing multiple serious health diagnoses. Last year, she revealed she was diagnosed with Lupus SLE in 2022, followed by a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder. LPDs are conditions where the body produces an excessive number of abnormal white blood cells, which can sometimes develop into cancers like lymphoma or leukaemia. She has stated both conditions are now "managed or in remission."
Celebrating Wellness and Looking Ahead
Her Instagram update from the @konavillagerosewood resort was filled with positive moments. The couple were pictured relaxing on the beach, enjoying bike rides, and spending time with friends. Halsey captioned the post, calling it a "very restorative little trip" to one of her "favorite places ever."
She emphasised the simple joys of the holiday, stating, "But mostly just sleep, play games, eat amazing food and take in the ocean." In a triumphant note on her health, she added, "I’d say I’m not vitamin D deficient for the first time in probably 10 years."
Looking forward, the singer is optimistic, saying, "There’s lots of work ahead but I’m so glad I took a beat for my body to recover so my tank is extra full to create and perform."
Halsey's health journey has been long and public. In 2022, she shared diagnoses of Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Sjogren's syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS), and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS). She has also been hospitalised for anaphylaxis and has been open about her struggles with endometriosis, ADHD, and bipolar disorder.
The singer is engaged to Avan Jogia and has a son, Ender Ridley Aydin, with her ex-boyfriend, Alev Aydin.
