Escape Reality festival to take over Newcastle's Town Moor

Music fans in Newcastle and the wider region received exciting news on Tuesday evening with the reveal of a major new festival for the city in 2027. Escape Reality aims to create a new destination for music, creativity, and culture in the heart of the North East.

Two-day event on Town Moor

The Town Moor, known for hosting the annual Hoppings funfair, has seen notable music events in recent years, including LooseFest, Patrick Topping's Trick festival, and Come Together, which was headlined by Robbie Williams and Kings of Leon in summer 2025.

Escape Reality will arrive at the Moor on May 29 and 30, 2027, transforming one of Newcastle's most recognisable landscapes into a temporary world of music, art, design and discovery.

Celebrating Newcastle's culture

Created with Newcastle at its heart, the team in charge says the festival is built around a simple but ambitious idea: to celebrate the culture already thriving across the city while creating another reason for audiences from across the UK and beyond to travel north.

Artists, independent promoters, venues, DJs, designers, photographers, filmmakers and creative communities across the city are shaping a music scene with its own identity, energy and momentum. Escape Reality has been created to give that culture an even bigger platform.

Music, art and immersive experiences

The two-day festival will bring together electronic music, large-scale production, art, design and immersive experiences, creating something visually distinctive while retaining a strong connection to the city around it.

The festival's creative direction is built around the contrast between the familiar and the unexpected: a place people already know becoming something they have never experienced before. First access to tickets is available by signing up for the latest updates.
