Ellie Goulding Announces Divorce Album 'I Know Too Much' After Split
Ellie Goulding's 'I Know Too Much' Album Out September

Ellie Goulding has announced that her sixth studio album, titled I Know Too Much, will be released in three months. The new LP is set to arrive in September, marking her first album since 2023's Higher Than Heaven.

Album Details and Collaboration

The 39-year-old singer has been working with producer and multi-instrumentalist Jack Rochon on the album. In a recent interview, she shared: "We've recorded hundreds of songs together, and I loved the freedom of exploring different sounds, feelings, thoughts, and experiences. It felt really organic and honest, like journaling through music."

Ellie will also release her new single, Black Prada Dress, from the upcoming album this Friday, June 5. She made the announcement on social media today. The singer debuted the track at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend in Sunderland, North East England.

Meaning Behind the Single

Speaking about the song, Ellie explained: "There's not one definitive experience that inspired it. It's directed at that negative, critical voice bringing you down. And that voice could be your own, internal voice — that self-critical, destructive one. I feel like we all have one of those, just like we have different versions of ourselves. I love the honesty of it, the rawness, and I hope people can connect to it in their own way."

A Divorce Album

The forthcoming album addresses her separation from ex-husband Caspar Jopling in 2024 after five years of marriage. Ellie, who has son Arthur, four, with Jopling, previously described this LP as a "divorce album." In January, she told Nylon magazine: "It had always been the goal to start this album. I didn't know it was going to be a divorce album, but that's the way it started heading. When I married my ex-husband, I thought it was for life. That will never go away, and that will always stay with me. There are some songs that are necessary for me to acknowledge that time in my life and to be respectful of it. Then there were some songs that were extremely reactionary and sad that I felt were good to do in the moment, but don't serve me long-term."

Ellie, who gave birth to her second child, Iris, with boyfriend Beau Minniear in March, said her changing emotions are reflected in the album. She added: "It's so funny that the process over the years is so indicative of how I was feeling at the time. The songs have gone from so dark and angry, to cynical, to funny, to coming out the other side, to meeting a new guy and being excited."

Ellie's new album I Know Too Much is out September 4, and the new single Black Prada Dress is out this Friday.
