Singer Ed Sheeran has announced he is leaving the UK to move to the United States with his wife and two children. The 34-year-old, who currently lives in Suffolk, told The 2 Johnnies podcast: 'I'm just about to move to America.'
Sheeran, his wife Cherry Seaborn, and their daughters Lyra, five, and Jupiter, three, will relocate from their £3.7 million mansion known as Sheeranville. The move is prompted by his upcoming US tour and the need to keep his family together. 'I'm going on tour there for a while, and I have a family, so I can't dip in and out,' he explained.
One downside for the singer is missing Ipswich Town matches. Sheeran owns a 1.4% stake in the club and attended nearly every game last season. He expects to make only one this season due to the move.
Sheeran also discussed security concerns, noting that he has 24-hour security at his home and for his family. He described a recent break-in attempt and said such measures are 'normal' in the music industry due to 'dangerous people'.
