Duffy Confirms Music Comeback After Decade-Long Hiatus Following Kidnap and Rape

Welsh singer Duffy has confirmed she is making a music comeback, over a decade after her last record was released. In a rare Instagram post, she shared a black and white photo of herself in the studio, writing: "If only I could find the right words to explain how much I've missed you all. Working on coming back to you."

Duffy, whose real name is Aimée Anne Duffy, rose to fame with her Grammy Award-winning album Rockferry in 2008. She largely disappeared from the public eye after enjoying huge international success, leaving fans baffled. She later revealed that her hiatus was due to a kidnapping ordeal lasting several weeks, during which she was raped by an unknown man.

Earlier this year, it emerged that the singer was preparing to return to the spotlight. She secured a deal with Disney+ to tell her story in a documentary, offering "new, unprecedented access" to the star, alongside interviews with her friends, family and music peers. The project will also explore the suffering she endured following her withdrawal from public life and the horrific kidnap ordeal.
