Dolly Parton is on course to score her first-ever UK No1 single following her death, as fans send her music soaring up the charts in tribute.
9 to 5 climbs to new peak
The Official Singles Chart First Look shows the country legend's 1980 anthem 9 to 5 has secured a brand-new peak of Number 12, after streams and sales soared by 350 per cent week-on-week.
The track, which never previously made the UK top 40, could now go all the way to the top, finally landing the chart crown that eluded her throughout her career.
Jolene and Islands In The Stream surge
Dolly also dominates the rest of the Top 10, with her 1976 classic Jolene currently at Number Two. Her 1983 duet with Kenny Rogers, Islands In The Stream, has surged to Number Six.
Before her death, Jolene and Islands In The Stream both failed to make the top 5, peaking at Number 7.
Private funeral held in Nashville
The chart success follows Dolly being laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, beside her husband Carl Dean, who died aged 82 in March 2025.
Her family said she had wanted a small and private funeral, with arrangements kept away from the public eye. Niece Lainey confirmed the farewell in a touching Instagram tribute post, saying: "I wanted to wait until after my granny was laid to rest yesterday before I tried to put any of this into words."
While the funeral marks the end of an era, her music looks set to ensure Dolly's legacy lives on.
