Cruz Beckham's music hints at rift with brother Brooklyn

Cruz Beckham's newly released music appears to contain a cryptic message to his estranged brother, Brooklyn Peltz-Beckham, amid the family's ongoing feud.

Earlier this year, Brooklyn, the eldest son of Sir David and Victoria Beckham, posted an explosive statement on Instagram, accusing his parents of putting "Brand Beckham" first and announcing he does not want to "reconcile" with his family. Although the Beckhams have tried several times to extend a public olive branch to their son, mainly on social media, he has ignored them.

Debut EP and cryptic lyrics

Now, musician Cruz has released his first EP today, with lyrics that some seem to think reference the rift within the celebrity clan. His debut EP Wear & Tear, recorded with his band Cruz Beckham And The Breakers, features six songs and an accompanying music video for each one.

He began composing music at the age of 11 and said he has written more than 1,000 songs over the years. The release of the EP also comes after he went on tour this year, playing several UK and European shows before heading to America.

Lyrics hint at family heartbreak

According to the Mirror, the track Loneliest Boy seems to hint at mum Victoria's heartbreak over losing contact with eldest child Brooklyn, 27, who cut all ties with his family back in January. At the time, Brooklyn issued a bombshell statement on social media accusing his family of trying to control him, sabotage his relationship with his wife, and claimed they prioritised "Brand Beckham" over anything else.

Lyrics to the song say: "Loneliest boy, mama don't talk too much. It's breaking her heart. It shows in the small things that you don't do. I guess in the end that it's you, yourself, and you. Tell me how do you live, when you've got nobody to lose?"

Tour and upcoming UK dates

The Mirror has reached out to reps for Cruz and Brooklyn for comment. Speaking about the title track, Wear & Tear - which is about the journey of life and its curves - Cruz said the biggest thing he'd learned is if people think his music is fake or not. It comes after he performed to rammed gigs in America, where he is fresh off the back off a US tour, or to absolutely no one at some venues.

Now he's set to perform in the UK, with dates supporting Noughties indie rock band The Kooks on their August 22 and August 27 tour dates at Rock N Roll Circus and playing Reading and Leeds Festival over the upcoming August Bank Holiday weekend.
