Christine McGuinness has bravely opened up about the emotional journey surrounding her children's autism diagnoses and her own recent revelation of being on the spectrum.
In a deeply personal interview, the Real Housewives of Cheshire star revealed how her twins Leo and Penelope, 10, and daughter Felicity, 7, were all diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) at young ages. "When my children were diagnosed, it was like a lightbulb moment for me," Christine confessed.
A Mother's Intuition
The 35-year-old model explained how she instinctively knew something was different about her children from an early age. "I noticed little things - how they interacted with others, their sensory sensitivities. As a mum, you just know."
Christine described the diagnosis process as "both heartbreaking and relieving" - painful to accept yet validating her concerns.
Her Own Late Diagnosis
In a surprising twist, Christine shared that she only recently received her own autism diagnosis after recognising similar traits in herself during her children's assessments.
"I've spent my whole life feeling different without understanding why," she admitted. "Now everything makes sense - from my social anxiety to my need for routine."
Breaking Down Stereotypes
The television personality hopes her story will challenge misconceptions about autism, particularly in women. "Autism presents differently in girls and women. We're better at masking, which often leads to late or missed diagnoses."
Christine has become a passionate advocate for autism awareness since her children's diagnoses, working with charities to improve understanding and support.
Family Support System
Despite their 2022 separation, Christine and ex-husband Paddy McGuinness remain united in supporting their children. "We're still a team when it comes to the kids," she said. "Their needs always come first."
The former couple continue to co-parent amicably, with Christine praising Paddy's dedication to their children's wellbeing.
